ISLABMABAD: The Pakistani government has deployed the army in Islamabad to control unrest during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests, issuing shoot-on-sight orders to security forces.
The Ministry of Interior issued a notification authorizing the deployment of the military under Article 245 of the Constitution, empowering the army to take decisive action against lawbreakers. The notification also grants the army the authority to impose curfews in areas where it deems necessary to maintain law and order.
Troops have been stationed around key government buildings, including the Parliament House, on Constitution Avenue. According to sources, security forces have been given clear instructions to shoot on sight if protesters engage in violence or disrupt public order.
