Bilawal also highlighted the PPP’s long history of struggle, saying the party is still present across Pakistan after three generations of effort. He praised the legacy of PPP’s founder, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who introduced pro-people economic policies.
Referring to reports that some government officials are considering Governor’s Rule or banning political parties, Bilawal Bhutto said that the government had not consulted the PPP. He emphasized that if the issue is raised, his party would aim for a decision based on consensus, stressing that there should be no difference between the opposition and the government at this point in time.
Bilawal expressed disappointment that political maneuvering was taking place even over issues like security. He urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to ensure peace in the province, and suggested they seek federal help if needed. He criticized the current government for being irresponsible in dealing with terrorism, stating that the PPP had successfully fought terrorism in the past.
Imran Khan’s Release
Regarding the release of Imran Khan, Bilawal suggested that if the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party wants to secure Khan’s release, they should focus on working with provincial authorities instead of creating unrest. He condemned the violent attacks on May 9 and reiterated that peaceful protests are a right, but forming militias and attacking institutions is unacceptable.
Bilawal concluded by calling for a new National Action Plan (NAP) to tackle terrorism and a development plan to address Pakistan’s economic challenges. He said the country’s current challenges require serious and responsible governance.
