Islamabad: A court in Islamabad has approved a two-day physical remand for journalist Matiullah Jan, who was presented before an anti-terrorism court judge, Tahir Abbas Sipra, earlier today.

Before the ruling, the court had reserved its decision on the request for Matiullah Jan’s remand, while allowing him to meet with his family members.

During the hearing, the Islamabad police presented Matiullah Jan in the anti-terrorism court. Prosecutor Raja Naveed sought a 30-day physical remand. The prosecutor also claimed that they needed to recover narcotics, specifically ice, from Jan, prompting laughter in the courtroom.

The prosecutor further stated that the investigation would focus on determining the origin of the alleged drugs in Jan’s possession.
