DUBAI: The decision on whether the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan or not remains undecided. The International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting, scheduled to discuss the matter, has been postponed until tomorrow.

At the start of the crucial meeting today, ICC officials briefed the boards on the latest developments, but shortly after, the meeting was adjourned.

The ICC proposed a special hybrid model for the event, suggesting that either India would travel to Pakistan, or Pakistan would go to India to play. If Pakistan refuses the hybrid model, the event may be moved to Sri Lanka as an alternative option.

Pakistan had originally been assigned the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy. However, following India’s refusal, the ICC’s hybrid model was not accepted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) or the government. Both entities have firmly stated that any decision should be made on an equal basis.

Pakistan’s stance is clear: if India is given any preferential treatment, the Pakistani team will not participate in any future events against India in any format.

The PCB had earlier urged the ICC to come up with an acceptable formula to ensure the participation of all members in the Champions Trophy.

Meanwhile, the deadline given by broadcasters for the tournament schedule has already passed. Due to the ongoing deadlock between the two countries, it is now likely that the issue will be resolved through a vote by the ICC board members.
