ISLAMABAD: In a dramatic escalation, a large convoy of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, crossed the limits of Islamabad on its way to D-Chowk, despite significant security measures in place.

The convoy, which had been steadily making its way from Peshawar, entered Islamabad’s outskirts as authorities ramped up security to prevent any potential clashes. The PTI’s march is part of the party’s ongoing protest movement, demanding the reinstatement of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Earlier, reports indicated that the convoy had reached Hazro Interchange on Sunday night, traveling towards Islamabad. By the time it reached Hasanabdal, the march had passed through Attock, entering Punjab. As the convoy made its way into the province, it met with resistance from law enforcement. Police used tear gas against the PTI supporters at various points along the route, including at Attock Bridge, Chhich Interchange, and Ghazi Barotha Canal.

A key moment came when Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, addressed her supporters via video during a brief stop near Hazara Interchange. “As long as Imran is not with us, we will not end this march,” Bushra Bibi declared, pledging to stay with the protest until her “last breath.” She called on PTI supporters to stand by her in what she framed as a battle for both her husband’s return and the future of the nation.
