ISLAMABAD: Rangers have successfully pushed back Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters, regaining control of Islamabad’s D-Chowk.
A convoy of PTI leaders and activists is en route to the area, with many protesters already having reached D-Chowk. Security around the vicinity has been heightened, with authorities deciding to arrest individuals attempting to advance towards the square. Key leaders of the rally are also expected to be detained.
Earlier, the PTI convoy passed through the G-11 and G-9 areas, where violent clashes erupted between the protesters and police. Both sides engaged in intense confrontations, with tear gas being fired and PTI supporters throwing stones at law enforcement.
