Dubai: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new visa condition for Pakistanis seeking employment in the country. Under the new rule, individuals applying for work visas in the UAE will now be required to provide a character certificate as part of their application.

According to the UAE’s Bureau of Immigration, the character certificate must be obtained from the police in Pakistan. The Pakistan Overseas Employment Association has confirmed that this will be a mandatory requirement for all workers applying for a job visa to the UAE.

The association has welcomed the move, acknowledging it as a positive step by the UAE government to address complaints and ensure the integrity of migrant workers. The new measure aims to improve the overall process and ensure that only those with clear backgrounds are granted work visas.

Reports also indicate that the UAE has already imposed travel restrictions on visit visas from 30 cities across Pakistan, citing various complaints related to overstaying and other issues. This latest move is seen as part of the UAE’s broader efforts to streamline its immigration processes and address concerns surrounding migrant workers.
