Philadelphia: Love knows no age, as proven by 100-year-old Bernie Letman and 102-year-old Marjorie Fitterman, who recently tied the knot after a nine-year romance.
Both had led fulfilling lives before meeting, but after losing their respective spouses, they never expected to find love again. They found each other later in life, in a senior living community in Philadelphia.
Their marriage in May 2024 made them the world’s oldest married couple, with a combined age of 202 years and 271 days. This milestone has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records.
Bernie and Marjorie met nine years ago at a costume party held at their senior living center, where they quickly became fond of one another.
Their wedding ceremony took place on May 19, 2024, in the same facility where they lived, following Jewish traditions. Both arrived in wheelchairs and exchanged vows in front of their loved ones.
Bernie attributes his long life to curiosity, reading, and staying informed about current events, while Marjorie believes drinking buttermilk contributed to her longevity.
