MOSCOW: The assistant killed alongside Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov in a bombing incident in Moscow on Tuesday has been identified as Ilya Polikarpov, Russian state media TASS reported.
Polikarpov’s Family
Polikarpov, a father of two young children aged eight and nine, was remembered by his wife Natalya as a “great patriot” who deeply “loved his motherland.” Natalya told TASS that Polikarpov was devoted to his work and family, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication.
He played a significant role in various “humanitarian activities,” collaborating with both TASS and the Russian Heritage Foundation, according to TASS reports. These activities included facilitating the transfer of essential funds and equipment to Russian military units, reportedly aiding in “safe activities in combat conditions.”
Tribute to Polikarpov
Vladimir Khmelev, the director of Russian Heritage and an advisor to TASS’s director-general, paid tribute to Polikarpov’s character and work ethic. “He was very responsible, decent, and always did what he said he would do,” Khmelev remarked, acknowledging the irreplaceable loss.
Polikarpov’s contributions spanned years of collaboration and commitment, where he supported efforts intended to bolster operations for Russian forces under challenging conditions. “He lived for his work and family. We will miss him very much,” Khmelev added, highlighting the deep sense of loss felt by his colleagues.
The bomb explosion that claimed Polikarpov’s life, along with General Kirillov, took place outside a residential complex in Moscow, causing widespread investigations by Russian authorities. Forensic experts continue to analyze the scene as the incident raises concerns over increasing targeted attacks.
Ilya Polikarpov’s untimely death sheds light on the collateral impact of high-profile assassinations in a conflict that continues to escalate and claim innocent lives.
