SANTIAGO:Â In Chile, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck, causing buildings to tremble. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake had a depth of 110.3 kilometers.
There have been no immediate reports of damage, and the tsunami threat has been dismissed by authorities.
It is worth recalling that last year, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake in the northwestern Chinese provinces of Gansu and Qinghai resulted in 126 deaths and over 200 injuries.
