RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant General (R) Faiz Hameed has been formally charged, according to the Pakistan Army’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department.
On August 12, 2024, a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) proceeding was initiated against the former Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General (R) Faiz Hameed, under relevant sections of the Pakistan Army Act.
According to ISPR, the charges against General Faiz Hameed include involvement in political activities, violations of the Official Secrets Act, endangering national security and interests, misuse of authority and state resources, and causing undue harm to individuals.
Furthermore, an additional investigation is underway regarding his alleged involvement in violent incidents related to civil unrest, particularly the events of May 9, 2024. These incidents, which are being probed, are believed to have involved collusion with certain political elements and their instigation.
ISPR stated that Faiz is being granted all legal rights during the Field General Court Martial process, in accordance with the law.
It is noteworthy that the Pakistan Army had taken Lieutenant General (R) Faiz Hameed into custody on August 12, 2024, for further investigation and legal proceedings.
