Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly traveled to Egypt, increasing hopes of a Gaza ceasefire agreement with Hamas in the coming days.

According to foreign news agencies, Netanyahu’s visit to Cairo signals renewed efforts to negotiate a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages held by Hamas. Unnamed sources claim that discussions are progressing positively, making a breakthrough possible soon.

However, Israeli media has reported conflicting information, stating that Netanyahu’s office denied he is currently in Egypt. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office remains tight-lipped about any potential or unannounced visit to the country.

Meanwhile, Arab media revealed that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is also expected to visit Egypt tomorrow, suggesting crucial developments and intensified diplomatic efforts toward resolving the months-long conflict.

In a related statement, Hamas emphasized its willingness to finalize a ceasefire agreement and release hostages if Israel refrains from imposing additional conditions. “If Israel stops introducing new terms, the ceasefire and hostage release deal could materialize soon,” Hamas representatives asserted.

The developments come amid escalating concerns about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, ongoing Israeli military aggression has resulted in the deaths of 45,059 Palestinians and left 107,041 wounded, with women and children making up a significant portion of the casualties.

The violence has caused widespread devastation in the densely populated region, pushing international bodies and neighboring Arab nations to expedite diplomatic initiatives. The recent back-to-back diplomatic visits to Egypt highlight increased efforts to address the crisis and pressure both sides to agree on a ceasefire.

If negotiations succeed, it could mark a critical step toward easing tensions and providing much-needed relief to Gaza’s war-affected civilians. All eyes remain on Egypt as a pivotal facilitator of the fragile peace process.
