NEW DEHLI: New Dubai Visa Rules are causing problems for Indian tourists, especially those planning to stay with family members. Under the updated requirements, travelers must provide several documents from their hosts, including a rental agreement, Emirates ID, residence visa copy, and contact details when applying for a visa.

These changes come at a time when the Dubai Shopping Festival is about to start (December 8 to January 14), a peak time for Indian tourists visiting the city.

Increased Documentation for Relatives’ Stays

While the requirements for hotel bookings and return tickets are understandable, the rules for staying with relatives are proving to be troublesome. Travelers now need to submit documents like rental agreements and residence proofs, which can be awkward for hosts to share.

Nikhil Thakurdas, director of Odyssey Tours and Travels, told TOI, “It’s uncomfortable to ask relatives for sensitive documents. This might push travelers to book hotels, increasing the cost of their trip.”

Hotel Costs Soar

Dubai’s hotel prices range from Twenty Thousand INR to One lakh per night, which is why many Indian tourists prefer staying with family. However, travel agents report that many hosts are hesitant to provide sensitive documents like their Emirates ID, even in digital form.

As Dubai remains a major holiday spot for Indians, many travelers are adjusting to the new rules, though some are reconsidering their travel plans due to the added paperwork.
