PARACHINAR: In a significant development aimed at bringing lasting peace to Kurram District, elders from both tribes have agreed to an indefinite ceasefire. The Ceasefire was reached during a grand jirga led by Commissioner Kohat Division, Muttasim Ballah Shah, focused on ensuring long-term stability in the region.
According to the Commissioner of Kohat, over 100 representatives from both tribes participated in the jirga. After extensive discussions, including individual and group consultations, the elders from both sides agreed to halt hostilities indefinitely.
The jirga participants emphasized that violence and conflict could not solve any issues. They acknowledged that resolving the decades-old dispute would take time, but stressed that both sides would need to approach the process with sincerity, trust, and a commitment to lasting peace.
The parties also pledged to continue working together until a permanent and comprehensive peace is established in Kurram District. They vowed to return to their respective areas with a message of peace and to prioritize the future of their children and the safety of the region.
Commissioner Kohat reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring its authority is upheld throughout the region, stating that every effort will be made to guarantee stability in Kurram.
