WASHINGTON: Richard Grenell, a prominent supporter of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, recently took to Twitter with a major request to Elon Musk. Grenell urged Musk to include Pakistan in the list of countries that need Starlink, Musk’s satellite internet service.
Grenell’s tweet, which garnered significant attention, read, “Hey @elonmusk, add #Pakistan to your list of places that need Starlink.” His plea reflects a growing demand for better internet access in Pakistan, especially in remote and underserved areas.
Several Pakistani users responded with their comments and support. Arslan Baloch mentioned that Richard Grenell had gained considerable popularity in Pakistan, noting how people were now using AI to create images of him dressed in traditional Pakistani clothing.
Other users highlighted their own concerns. Hammad tweeted that while Starlink was needed, Pakistan also urgently required international support for Imran Khan and democracy, calling for the assistance of former President Donald Trump.
Fayaz Anjum Faizi addressed the ongoing ban on X (formerly Twitter) in Pakistan, urging Musk to consider the censorship issues. He pointed out that Pakistani media had become heavily controlled by the government.
Ahmad Hassan Bobak also advocated for Starlink in Pakistan, along with removing the ban on X, to restore freedom of speech.
Muhammad Saeed emphasized how Pakistan’s diverse terrain and remote areas would benefit immensely from Starlink, stressing the need to bridge the digital divide and enhance access to education, business, and communication across the country.
