Saudi Arabia Had Warned German Authorities About Attacker, Sources Claim

MAGDEBURG: In a tragic incident in the Magdeburg, a man drove a car into a crowd at a Christmas market, resulting in five deaths and over 80 injuries, including 41 critically injured individuals.

German authorities confirmed the arrest of a Saudi national in connection with the attack.

Following the incident, Saudi Arabia condemned the act and expressed its sorrow. In a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom conveyed condolences to the victims’ families and solidarity with the German people.

Saudi sources disclosed to international media that the Kingdom had previously warned German authorities about the attacker, highlighting extremist views shared by the suspect on social media.

According to German officials, the arrested individual is a doctor by profession and has been residing in Germany since 2006.

Investigations into the motive behind the attack are ongoing as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
