RAWALPINDI:  Shoaib Shaheen, a senior leader of PTI, accused Islamabad police of targeting PTI supporters through mobile checks.

He described the practice as “extremely dangerous,” following claims of discrimination against Pakhtuns made by Ali Amin Gandapur.

More than 1,400 people have been arrested in Islamabad and Rawalpindi since Nov 28 in a crackdown on PTI.

During the protests in Islamabad, four security officers lost their lives, while PTI claims 12 of its supporters were killed.

Shoaib Shaheen stated that police are focusing on people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, inspecting CNICs and mobile phones.

“If they find any media or messages linked to Imran Khan, the person is arrested,” Shaheen explained.

He also noted that family members visiting detainees are being arrested, calling it a “dangerous conspiracy.”

Shaheen condemned the police actions, stressing that they could cause division within the country.
