LAHORE: A student lost his life in a shooting incident at Punjab University, allegedly carried out by unidentified attackers.
According to police, unknown assailants opened fire on a student named Ammar, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have taken possession of the body and initiated an investigation into the incident.
The shooting created a tense atmosphere on the university campus, prompting students to stage a protest. They blocked the Campus Underpass and the main Canal Road, demanding justice and action against the culprits.
In a statement, Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba blamed the university administration for negligence. The group condemned the attack, calling it a tragic act of violence.
“Student Ranaa Ammar was targeted and shot dead in broad daylight,” the statement read. “This is the second major shooting incident within a month. The administration and police have utterly failed to ensure the safety of students, leaving them vulnerable to such horrific incidents.”
The student body demanded urgent measures to prevent further violence and called for stricter security protocols on Punjab University.
