WASHINGTON: United States of America President-elect Donald Trump has outlined sweeping plans for his term starting January 20, promising immediate actions on immigration, justice reform, and foreign policy.
Mr. Trump vowed to deport millions of undocumented immigrants, starting with convicted criminals, while leaving a possible legislative path for “Dreamers” who arrived as children. He also aims to end birthright citizenship through executive action, calling the policy “ridiculous.”
On his first day in office, Trump pledged to pardon those convicted for their involvement in the January 6 Capitol riots, claiming they faced overly harsh treatment. He highlighted, “These people are living in hell.”
Trump also plans to extend tax cuts from his first term and signaled openness to raising the federal minimum wage, pending consultation with state governors. He confirmed his children would not serve as White House aides in his upcoming term.
In foreign policy, Trump stated he would prioritize ending the Ukraine war and hinted at reducing military aid to Kyiv. He questioned NATO’s future unless member nations “pay their bills.” Trump also voiced skepticism about Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s long-term leadership.
Regarding healthcare, he criticized Obamacare, pledging to seek bipartisan solutions if a better system emerges. However, he ruled out imposing restrictions on abortion pills.
While rejecting investigations into President Biden, Trump described retribution as “success,” downplaying a punitive approach to political opponents.
