NEW DEHLI: In a dramatic turn of events in India, a woman staged a protest outside her husband’s house upon learning of his plans to marry for a third time.
According to Indian media reports, the incident occurred in Peddapalli district of Telangana state, where Nagal Jyothi, a resident of Kunal village, claimed that her husband, Devender, was preparing to enter a third marriage.
Jyothi revealed that she married Devender five years ago, unaware that he was already married. “I am his second wife, and I discovered his first marriage only after we were married,” she stated.
Upon discovering Devender’s intentions to tie the knot for a third time, Jyothi, accompanied by her relatives and local villagers, staged a sit-in outside his house. She accused Devender of deceiving her by hiding his first marriage and now attempting to marry again without her consent.
Jyothi also alleged mistreatment and harassment by her in-laws over dowry demands. She further stated, “I won’t let another woman suffer the same injustice I faced.”
Local police arrived at the scene to address the situation and mediate between the parties involved. The case highlights issues of domestic disputes, dowry-related harassment, and deceptive marriages in India, drawing significant local attention.
