Pathanamthitta: The Kerala Police‘s Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested 44 individuals in a rape case involving a Dalit girl.
So far, 30 FIRs have been filed regarding the sexual assault claims, involving 59 people as accused.
Authorities revealed that two suspects are currently overseas and might be subjects of a Lookout Circular soon.
A Red Corner notice could be issued to track their whereabouts through Interpol, police confirmed.
Investigation Details and Ongoing Efforts
Authorities also mentioned the ongoing search for 13 remaining suspects, emphasizing that they will be arrested promptly.
The SIT will use scientific and foolproof methods in this high-profile investigation, ensuring strict action against the accused.
Authorities stressed that no leniency will be shown and promised to bring all perpetrators to justice.
Details from the investigation reveal the girl was targeted and taken to different places for abuse over time.
Shocking Revelation of Abuse
The investigation further revealed that the girl was sexually assaulted multiple times by different perpetrators over the years.
The teenager, now 18, alleges that the abuse started when she was just 13 years old, by 62 individuals.
She was even abused at a private bus stand, where perpetrators transported her to other locations for assault.
In another disturbing revelation, one youth acquainted her via Instagram and raped her in a rubber plantation.
Witnessed by Many in Various Locations
During her class XII year, the victim was gang-raped by four individuals at a rubber plantation in Ranni.
Additionally, she faced abuse in various settings, including a car and even the Pathanamthitta General Hospital in January.
The case came to light after her teachers noticed significant behavioral changes and informed the Child Welfare Committee.
Following the committee’s notification, police initiated an investigation into the harrowing series of assaults.
Ongoing Search and Strong Police Action
The SIT, consisting of over 30 officers, including women from various ranks, continues its comprehensive probe into the case.
Led by Deputy SP P S Nandakumar, the team works under the supervision of District Police Chief V G Vinod Kumar.
Authorities indicated that more officers will join the investigation once the Sabarimala pilgrimage season concludes.
The case continues to unfold, with authorities ensuring that all involved perpetrators will face appropriate legal actions.
