WASHINGTON: Antony Blinken revealed an in-depth post-war strategy for Gaza on Tuesday. The plans aim to prevent a power vacuum in the region. The U.S. Secretary of State emphasized the importance of stabilization after the war. He presented his plan just days before his term concludes.
A Future with Palestinian Authority Leadership
Blinken stressed the need for Palestinian Authority leadership in Gaza post-conflict. He suggested international partners would help establish an interim administration. This administration would oversee key sectors like banking, water, energy, and healthcare. Blinken advocated for a fully reformed Palestinian Authority to take full control when feasible.
International Support for Stabilization and Security
Blinken proposed a multinational security mission to aid in rebuilding efforts. This mission would ensure a secure environment for humanitarian aid and reconstruction. A training initiative would aim to empower a Palestinian-led security force in Gaza. He called for cooperation from the international community to make these plans a reality.
A Path Toward Palestinian Independence
Blinken highlighted a time-bound, conditions-based path to an independent Palestinian state. He acknowledged challenges but emphasized that regional partners have expressed willingness to help. This path must ensure reunification of Gaza and the West Bank under a reformed Palestinian Authority.
Israel-Saudi Normalization Deal and Regional Security
Blinken pointed to a possible Israel-Saudi normalization deal as a crucial step. Such a deal could improve Israel’s integration into the region and incentivize peace talks. He also criticized Israeli policies, including settlement expansion and withholding PA funds. He urged for a shift in approach to create sustainable peace.
Conflict Cycle Needs Political Solution
Blinken warned against relying solely on military solutions to defeat Hamas. Without a political alternative, violence and extremism will persist. He noted that Israel’s actions often result in Hamas regrouping and gaining strength. The goal, he stated, should be to avoid an ongoing insurgency and to promote lasting peace.
After everything that has happened—after the destruction, the loss, and the pain ,One of the characters who started this war with the goal of genocide in the Middle East 🌍💥 is now proposing a long-term ceasefire. But the truth remains: fire and water 🔥💧 can’t mix, and cruelty and sympathy can never go together 💔❌. Can peace truly be built after so much hate and violence? I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions on this.
