A reported 2,000 structures were impacted by the ongoing Palisades and Eaton fires, causing widespread devastation.
FEMA’s Response to Disaster
Criswell spoke about the emotional toll that wildfires take on victims, especially those who lose all their belongings. “The loss is more than physical property; families lose their memories and irreplaceable items,” she shared. The recovery, both physical and emotional, becomes even harder when everything is wiped away.
FEMA teams have set up operations in Sacramento and are working closely with state emergency teams to support relief efforts. Criswell added that FEMA will soon deploy teams to local shelters. They will assist wildfire survivors with registration for federal aid.
Efforts to Provide Relief for Families
As the fires caused massive destruction, the FEMA Administrator acknowledged the challenge in addressing the recovery. Alongside restoring homes, restoring emotional support is equally essential for those who have been displaced. Families are left facing devastation with no trace of what they once had.
FEMA has pledged to work around the clock to support disaster recovery in the hardest-hit areas. These efforts will aim to expedite recovery and bring help to affected families as soon as possible.
