Brisbane: A 23-year-old hiker missing for 13 days in dense Australian bushland was found alive on January 8.
Hadi Nazari vanished on December 26 while exploring Kosciuszko National Park, south of Sydney in New South Wales.
His friends notified police after he failed to return to camp, sparking a massive multi-agency search operation.
Authorities and volunteers, totaling 300 people, scoured the area by land and air, facing challenging summer conditions.

Rescued by Nearby Hikers

Hiker Nazari encountered a group of hikers who heard him call out near a trail, about 10 kilometers away.
“He identified himself and explained he was lost,” said Superintendent Andrew Spliet from the Riverina Police District.
He was airlifted to safety and examined by paramedics, who found him in surprisingly good condition.
Nazari survived by consuming two granola bars he found in an abandoned hut during his 13-day ordeal.

Positive Signs and Hopeful Efforts

Last week, search teams found hiking poles, garbage, and a camera belonging to Nazari near his last-known location.
Officials noted water availability in the area, which supported the belief Nazari could still be alive.
Kosciuszko National Park, famous for its tough trails and scenic beauty, covers six square kilometers.
Nazari is now reunited with his relieved family after this miraculous survival and rescue.

Authorities Thank the Community

Inspector Josh Broadfoot commended emergency services and volunteers, praising their dedication throughout the challenging search.
“This is a remarkable outcome. We never lost hope of finding him alive,” Broadfoot said.
