New Dehli: A resident of Himachal Pradesh’s Bhiran Jattan village was stunned by an exorbitant December electricity bill.
Lalit Dhiman, who paid ₹2,500 for November, received a shocking December bill of ₹2,10,42,08,405.
The resident immediately raised concerns with the electricity board about the unexpectedly massive bill amount.
Error in System Identified
Upon investigation, the board cited a system error as the reason behind the outrageous bill.
Officials assured the resident that the issue would be corrected, sending him a revised bill of ₹4,047.
Similar Incidents Previously Reported
Earlier, a Gujarat tailor also received an bill of over ₹86 lakh.
That bill, too, was later corrected to a modest ₹1,540 after media coverage highlighted the mistake.
Such billing errors continue to shock citizens and highlight the need for system improvements in utility billing.
