On January 15, several Indian media outlets claimed that Jasprit Bumrah, who has been recovering from a back injury, was on bed rest and unlikely to participate in the Champions Trophy.
Reports suggested that the pacer sustained the back injury during the Sydney Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Throughout the series, Bumrah bowled an impressive 151.2 overs across five matches, emerging as the most successful bowler with 32 wickets.
Further speculation indicated that updates on Bumrah’s back condition were “not encouraging” and that medical experts had advised him to avoid rushing his return to cricket, recommending complete bed rest.
