GAZA: The pro-Palestinian NGO Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) has filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC). The group is seeking an arrest warrant for Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar. HRF accuses Sa’ar of “war crimes and crimes against humanity” in Gaza. The complaint focuses on Israel’s military actions since October 7, 2023. It was filed ahead of Sa’ar’s expected trip to Brussels next week.

HRF’s Mission

HRF describes itself as an organization dedicated to “breaking the cycle of Israeli impunity.” It aims to honor the memory of Hind Rajab, a 5-year-old girl killed in Gaza. The child was reportedly killed by Israeli tank fire while inside her family’s car. The group seeks justice for those it says have suffered due to Israel’s military actions. HRF has been actively involved in filing legal cases against Israeli officials and soldiers.

Allegations Against Sa’ar

HRF claims Sa’ar played a key role in shaping Israel’s policies on Gaza. The complaint states he contributed to “mass displacement, collective punishment, and systematic attacks on Palestinian civilians.” HRF also accuses him of making statements that incited violence. The group argues he obstructed international justice efforts regarding the Gaza conflict. Sa’ar is said to have publicly supported reducing Gaza’s territory.

Policy Endorsements

HRF highlights Sa’ar’s endorsement of Israel’s total blockade on Gaza. The blockade has restricted access to food, water, and medical supplies. HRF claims this constitutes a crime under international law. The complaint also points to his alignment with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In November, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant. HRF suggests Sa’ar has been a co-perpetrator in these alleged crimes.

Previous Legal Actions
HRF has previously pursued legal cases against Israeli soldiers. The group filed a lawsuit against a former Israeli soldier in Brazil. The lawsuit accused him of war crimes committed in Gaza. A Brazilian judge ordered police to investigate the soldier based on HRF’s complaint. However, the soldier left the country before further action could be taken. HRF continues tracking Israeli soldiers’ activities related to Gaza operations.

Israel’s Response
The Israeli foreign ministry has reacted to these legal threats. It has warned Israeli citizens about posting military-related content online. Officials say anti-Israeli groups may use social media posts to build legal cases. Israel dismisses the complaints as politically motivated. The government argues that its military actions comply with international law. Despite the ICC complaint, Sa’ar has not changed his travel plans.

Ongoing Legal Battles
HRF remains committed to holding Israeli officials accountable. The group has filed multiple cases in international courts. It continues to monitor and document Israeli military activities. The ICC is reviewing the complaint against Sa’ar but has not made a decision yet. If accepted, an arrest warrant could be issued in the future.
