TELAVIV: Two Israeli soldiers were killed in a shooting attack in the occupied West Bank.

The attack occurred at a checkpoint in Tayasir, north of Tubas.
Eight other soldiers were wounded before the gunman was shot dead.
Israel’s military continues its large-scale operation against Palestinian armed groups.

Ongoing Operation

Israel launched a military operation against Palestinian militants on January 21.
The campaign expanded to Tulkarm and Tubas last week.
Israeli forces claim they have killed 70 Palestinians since the year began.
This includes 25 in Jenin and 13 in Tubas and Tulkarm.

Military Casualties

The IDF identified the fallen soldiers as Sgt Maj Ofer Yung, 39, and Sgt Maj Avraham Friedman, 43.
Two of the wounded soldiers remain in serious condition.
Reports say the attacker approached the checkpoint undetected.

Security Justification

Maj Gen Avi Bluth defended Israel’s counterterrorism operation.
He called the attack proof of its necessity.
The IDF says it arrested 380 wanted individuals in January.

Growing Tensions

Hamas called the attack a “heroic operation” against Israeli aggression.
They warned Israel’s actions in the northern West Bank will face consequences.
Israel remains committed to dismantling armed groups in the region.
Violence continues to escalate, deepening the ongoing conflict.
