London: Daniel Bannister, 50, has been jailed again for stalking singer Cheryl Tweedy.
He breached a restraining order by visiting Cheryl’s Buckinghamshire home.
A judge sentenced him to 16 weeks in jail for multiple harassment offenses.
Bannister had already served three months for previous stalking incidents.
Despite legal warnings, he returned to Cheryl’s home in December 2024.
Terrifying Incidents
Bannister first visited Cheryl’s home in January 2024, speaking through the intercom.
He chillingly stated, “I have come to get Cheryl,” terrifying the singer.
In July, he returned and bizarrely asked for a glass of wine.
Cheryl immediately contacted security, fearing for her safety.
Her son, Bear, was also in the house during one of the incidents.
Legal Consequences
A restraining order was issued in September after his repeated visits.
Despite this, Bannister went back to Cheryl’s home in December.
Prosecutor Datta Ryan stated that Bannister had no regard for the court’s orders.
He was found guilty of two counts of harassment and one attempted breach.
Judge Arvind Sharma emphasized Cheryl’s distress in his sentencing remarks.
Singer’s Fears
Cheryl described feeling unsafe in her own home due to Bannister’s actions.
She feared he was looking for a way inside the property and expressed deep concern for her son’s safety.
She said she didn’t want Bear to witness the frightening events.
Cheryl said Bannister’s repeated visits left her feeling violated.
Previous Convictions
Bannister was previously jailed for four months in September 2024.
Before that, he had approached Cheryl’s home twice in one year.
His stalking behavior caused immense emotional distress to the singer.
He was also convicted in 2012 for manslaughter of a former neighbor.
Bannister beat Rajendra Patel to death in a Croydon hostel incident.
New Legal Action
Bannister has now been given a longer prison sentence.
He is also subject to a new indefinite restraining order.
The judge made it clear that Bannister’s actions were unacceptable.
Prosecutors stressed that his repeated violations worsened the situation.
Cheryl remains focused on protecting her son from further distress.
