WASHINGTON: Dan Bongino, the new FBI deputy director, previously claimed the agency was involved in planting pipe bombs before Jan. 6.
Inside Job Allegation
In January, Bongino stated that the FBI knew the pipe bomber’s identity but refused to disclose it. He suggested this was because the FBI was involved. “This guy was an insider,” he said, calling it “the biggest scandal in FBI history.”
Bongino alleged the bombs were placed to frame Trump supporters. He insisted that law enforcement planted them to control the narrative. “The bomb was meant to create a false story about MAGA people,” he said.
Bongino’s Background
Bongino previously served in the Secret Service and the NYPD. He later became a well-known conservative commentator. His media career grew through claims about a deep-state conspiracy against conservative leaders.
He frequently criticizes the FBI, calling it “corrupt.” He has accused the agency of manipulating evidence related to the pipe bombs.
Surveillance Footage Doubts
Bongino claimed the FBI doctored surveillance footage of the pipe bomber. He argued that this was part of a larger cover-up. Bongino repeatedly questioned why authorities failed to identify the suspect.
He also alleged that the bomb placed near the Democratic National Committee targeted Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. “They tried to make it look like Trump supporters were after her,” he claimed.
Conspiracy Theories
The identity of the pipe bomber remains unknown. This has fueled conspiracy theories, which Bongino has frequently promoted. The case remains one of the most debated aspects of the Capitol riot.
In 2024, a Department of Homeland Security report revealed that Harris was close to the DNC bomb. The report confirmed that the bomb was dangerous and could have caused serious harm.
Popular Podcast
Bongino hosts one of the most popular conservative podcasts. His show often discusses deep-state theories and government corruption. His claims about the Jan. 6 pipe bombs have been widely shared.
Despite his allegations, the FBI continues its investigation into the case. Officials have not responded to his claims.
