San José Police arrested a suspect linked to an armed robbery that occurred in January. The suspect, 19-year-old Yonatan Petros, was taken into custody after detectives identified him as one of the individuals involved in the crime.
On January 24, 2025, around 1:30 PM, officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at a residence on the 80 block of East San Carlos Street. Two men, both armed, robbed an adult male victim of thousands of dollars. The victim managed to escape and contacted law enforcement.
Ongoing Investigation
Detectives from the Robbery Unit launched an extensive investigation and discovered Petros was also linked to another firearm-related incident at the same location on February 1, 2025. Investigators identified him as a suspect in both cases.
With this information, authorities obtained arrest and search warrants for Petros and his known residences in San José and San Leandro. On March 13, 2025, SJPD’s Covert Response Unit assisted detectives in arresting him.
Weapons Recovered
During a search of Petros’ San José residence, police discovered an unregistered firearm, which was seized as evidence. The suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
The second suspect in the robbery remains unidentified and is still at large. Police are actively searching for additional leads.
