New Delhi: In a shocking revelation, Indian authorities have uncovered that not only miscreants but also school students have been involved in sending bomb threats to their own schools in an attempt to cancel exams.

According to Indian media, at least three schools in New Delhi recently received bomb threat emails, and investigations revealed that some of these threats were sent by students of the targeted schools themselves. One such incident involved students from Venkateshwar Global School, where two siblings were found to be behind the threatening emails.

Plot Unveiled During Counseling Sessions

The siblings confessed during counseling that they had sent the bomb threat emails to delay their upcoming exams. Inspired by earlier incidents of bomb threats targeting other institutions, the two students decided to replicate the act to escape their examination schedule. After their confession, authorities issued a warning to the students and allowed them to leave with their parents.

Increasing Number of Threats Across India

Bomb threats targeting schools, hospitals, and airlines have significantly increased in India. Since May 2024, over 50 such threats have been reported. Most of these were conveyed through anonymous emails.

Challenges in Tracking Culprits

Authorities revealed that perpetrators often use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to obscure their locations, making it challenging to track them. Despite these hurdles, law enforcement continues to crack down on such incidents, prioritizing the safety of institutions and the public.

Impact on Students and Schools

While authorities successfully managed these incidents without actual explosives being found, the psychological and operational disruptions caused by such threats are substantial. Students, teachers, and parents have expressed concern over safety and the misuse of technology by youth.
