Washington: Former US President Bill Clinton has been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for the flu, according to a spokesperson on Tuesday. Angel Ureña, Clinton’s spokesperson, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude for the exceptional care provided by the medical team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. He also noted that Clinton and his family appreciated the kind messages and well wishes they received during his hospitalization.

Clinton was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., on Monday evening for tests and observation after experiencing a fever. The 78-year-old former president has a history of health issues; he was last hospitalized for six days in 2021 in California due to an infection that had entered his bloodstream.

As the 42nd president of the United States, Clinton served from 1993 to 2001. His past health challenges include heart issues. In 2004, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery at the age of 58 after doctors discovered extensive heart disease. A decade later, he had a clogged artery opened following complaints of chest pains.

Since leaving office, Clinton has remained active in various initiatives, including founding what is now known as the Clinton Foundation. The foundation partnered with the American Heart Association to create the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, focusing on improving the health of children and combating obesity.

Following his second surgery, Clinton adopted a vegan diet, famously stating, “I might not be around if I hadn’t become a vegan. It’s great.” He has also been involved in political activities, including campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the presidency this year.

Clinton’s recent health scare serves as a reminder of the importance of health awareness, especially for those with preexisting conditions. As he recovers, many are hopeful for his continued contributions to public life and health advocacy.
