OTTAWA: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation as Liberal Party leader, reflecting on his nearly decade-long premiership.
“Every day as prime minister, I’ve been inspired by the resilience and determination of Canadians,” Trudeau stated on Monday.
Listing his achievements, Trudeau highlighted pandemic policies, climate action, and supporting Ukraine as pivotal accomplishments.
“We united through the pandemic, fought climate change, stood with Ukraine, and prepared our economy for the future,” he said.
Expressing Regret on Electoral Reform
Trudeau shared one regret: his inability to reform Canada’s electoral system during his tenure.
“I wish we had changed our election process, enabling voters to choose second or third options,” Trudeau admitted.
He expressed hope for continued progress, emphasizing that Canada is at a critical juncture globally.
