LONDON: A 64-year-old man has been jailed for five years after being filmed brandishing a gun during a family dispute in Dudley.
Family Dispute
Martin Gordon, 64, was seen holding a pistol in a heated argument with his granddaughter. The incident took place on Brierley Hill Road on August 11 last year. West Midlands Police received a call just before 1 pm, reporting that a man had pulled a gun on a woman.
Quick Arrest
Officers identified Gordon as the suspect. His car was found at an industrial estate on Pensnett Road, Brierley Hill, just 15 minutes later. Armed police responded quickly and arrested him within 40 minutes of the first call.
Weapon Found
When searched, Gordon had a magazine with two bullets in his pocket. The firearm remained in his car. Following an investigation by the Major Crime Unit (MCU), he admitted to possessing a firearm.
Court Sentencing
On February 13, Gordon was sentenced to five years in prison at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Detective Sergeant Matt Nightingale stated that Gordon had brandished the weapon in public without trying to hide it.
Tackling Gun Crime
West Midlands Police continue their fight against illegal firearms. More than 200 guns were taken off the streets last year under Operation Target, aimed at reducing serious and organized crime.
