PARIS: On the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that peace must not mean Ukraine’s surrender. Any agreement must include security guarantees for Ukraine, ensuring stability in the region.

Trump’s Stand
President Donald Trump stated that Europe should bear the cost and responsibility of any peacekeeping efforts for Ukraine. Like Macron, he suggested the war could end within weeks if negotiations proceed effectively.

Troop Deployment Talks
Macron revealed discussions with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer about sending troops to Ukraine. He clarified they would not be on the front lines or in combat. Instead, they would be stationed in designated locations as part of a peace treaty.

Security and Territory
The negotiations, according to Macron, will address security guarantees, land disputes, and territorial issues to reach a lasting resolution. He stressed that maintaining peace requires a strong European presence with U.S. support.

Macron on Trump’s Role
Macron acknowledged that Trump’s potential second term could be a significant “game changer” in shaping Europe’s approach to the conflict. He confirmed ongoing talks with European leaders and allies on securing peace and ensuring Ukraine’s sovereignty.
