Richmond: An 87-year-old woman, Marilyn Sommer, was shot and killed by her husband at their home in Chantilly, Virginia.
The suspect, 88-year-old Douglas Sommer, was taken into custody after the shooting on February 28.
Fairfax County police responded to a 911 call from the couple’s daughter, who reported the incident.
Officers arrived at the 13000 block of Pennypacker Lane around 6:09 a.m. and found the victim suffering trauma to the upper body.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police officials.

They reported that detectives preliminarily believe Douglas Sommer fatally shot his wife inside their home.
Sommer was arrested and charged with Second-Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond.
