WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden officially revealed the ceasefire and hostage agreement, calling it a “very good afternoon.”
“After over 15 months of conflict, Israel and Hamas have reached a deal to stop fighting temporarily,” Biden said.
Biden misspoke during his remarks, attributing the October 7 attacks incorrectly, but highlighted the suffering endured during the conflict.
He expressed hope, saying, “Soon, hostages will return to their families, and fighting in Gaza will pause.”
Biden spoke alongside Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken while Qatar announced the agreement.
