CALIFORNIA: Google has unveiled an exciting new chess game powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. For chess enthusiasts, this AI-driven game is bound to be a hit, as it allows users to design chess pieces using generative AI.
The company has developed a special website for the game, where players can input a brief description of how they want the white pieces to look. Based on the description, Google’s “Imagen 3” AI model will generate the pieces, and corresponding ideas for the black pieces will be provided.
Once the design process is complete, you can start playing the game. However, it’s not an ideal chess app, as it doesn’t allow for reviewing past moves or showing which pieces were captured.
The game comes with three different settings and two time control options, but lacks features typically found in advanced chess apps.
The launch took place during the 2024 World Chess Championship, where Google was a key sponsor. As part of its involvement, the company introduced this game to the public.
Additionally, Google has announced plans to roll out a new chess bot in Gemini. This feature will be available to users of Gemini Advanced in the coming weeks.
