KAMPALA: A deadly landslide in eastern Uganda last week has resulted in the deaths of 28 people.

According to international media reports, heavy rains triggered the landslide, which caused widespread destruction in the region. Police confirmed that the bodies of children as young as 2 to 3 years old were recovered from the rubble, and dozens of people are still missing.

The Uganda Red Cross has warned that the number of landslides and floods has increased in recent months, partly due to climate change. They also highlighted that the region has been experiencing heavy rainfall since October.

In a similar incident in 2010, a landslide in the same area claimed the lives of 80 people.
