Los Angeles: The devastating wildfires in Los Angeles continue to rage six days after their outbreak, with only 11% of the fire under control. Experts warn that it could take weeks to fully contain the blazes.

The death toll has risen to 24, while 16 people remain missing, raising fears of further fatalities.

According to American media, thousands of firefighters, hundreds of fire engines, water tankers, and 60 aircraft have been battling the massive inferno since last Tuesday when it broke out in the city’s forests. Despite these efforts, progress remains limited.

Foreign media reports indicate that the Pacific Palisades fire, the largest in the region, is just 11% contained, while 27% progress has been made on a separate blaze in Eaton.

Experts have issued warnings about strong winds from Monday to Wednesday, which could exacerbate the situation.

The wildfires have scorched 40,000 acres, forcing 150,000 people to flee the city. Another 160,000 residents have been placed under evacuation warnings.

Over 50,000 power outages have been reported, and damages are estimated at over $150 billion. Reports of looting in abandoned homes add to the challenges faced by residents and authorities.
