GAZA:Â A tragic Israeli airstrike in the Nuseirat refugee camp in southern Gaza today claimed the life of Palestinian activist Khaled Nabhan. Khaled was widely known for his heart-wrenching farewell to his three-year-old granddaughter, Reem, whom he called the “soul of my soul” after she was killed in an Israeli attack on November 22, 2023.
The poignant images of Khaled holding Reem’s lifeless body, gently wiping dust from her face, and fixing her hair became a symbol of the immense loss faced by families in Gaza.
According to international media reports, Khaled transformed his grief into action following Reem’s death. He dedicated himself to supporting injured families in Gaza, offering aid to those impacted by the relentless attacks. He launched a campaign called “Reem: Soul of My Soul”, aimed at bringing joy to Gaza’s children. As part of this initiative, Khaled distributed toys and gifts to help ease the suffering of young victims amidst the devastation.
Today’s airstrike that took Khaled’s life marks another heartbreaking chapter in the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Khaled’s efforts to provide hope for children, even in the darkest times, highlighted his unwavering resilience and compassion.
