Khartoum: A plane crash in South Sudan has claimed 20 lives. According to Sudanese authorities, only one of the 21 people aboard survived. The aircraft was carrying workers from an oil company when it crashed.

Sudanese petroleum officials said the plane crashed just three minutes after taking off from Unity State near oil fields, with Juba, the capital, as its destination.

Among the victims, there were five foreigners: two Chinese nationals, one Indian, and two Ugandan crew members, while the remaining 15 victims were South Sudanese.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, but investigations are ongoing. This incident follows a 2021 crash near Juba, which killed five people while transporting fuel for the UN’s World Food Program.
