The Vatican has provided daily updates on his condition. On Saturday, officials said his health remained critical”, though he was alert and spent the day in an armchair. However, his condition worsened compared to Friday, requiring blood transfusions and a high flow of oxygen.
Doctors remain cautious, emphasizing that his condition is delicate and that even minor changes could affect his health.
A History of Lung Issues Â
Pope Francis has a history of lung-related illnesses. He developed pleurisy as a young man and had part of a lung removed at 21 years old. Over the years, he has been hospitalized multiple times, including in March 2023 for bronchitis.
