Kyiv: Russia carried out its largest drone strike on Ukraine to date last night, using a total of 188 drones in the attack.
According to foreign news agencies, the assault caused significant damage to the power infrastructure in Ukraine’s western Ternopil region, while residential buildings in the capital, Kyiv, were also affected.
The Ukrainian military reported that out of the 188 drones launched, 76 were intercepted and destroyed by Ukrainian forces. The whereabouts of 96 drones remain unaccounted for. Ukrainian officials confirmed that the Russian forces deployed a combination of suicide drones and other unidentified drones in the attack.
To bypass Ukraine’s defense systems, Russia is also believed to have used decoy drones. In Kyiv, 10 drones were downed, but their debris fell on residential buildings, though no casualties were reported.
Ukrainian officials stated that despite the damage to infrastructure, no fatalities were recorded from the latest drone assault.
