WASHINGTON:President Donald Trump dismissed claims that Tesla CEO Elon Musk was briefed on secret U.S. war plans with China.
Trump said the Pentagon wouldn’t reveal war strategies to anyone, including Musk, despite his influence in defense and technology.
Security Concerns
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump emphasized the sensitivity of potential war with China and the need for confidentiality.
“I don’t want anybody seeing potential war plans,” Trump stated, adding that the U.S. is prepared for any conflict.
Musk’s ties to China have raised concerns about his influence and potential vulnerability due to his business operations.
Meeting at Pentagon
Earlier, Musk met with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at the Pentagon. The topics discussed remain undisclosed.
Neither Musk nor Hegseth responded to questions about whether China was part of their conversation.
Hegseth later joined Trump’s Oval Office meeting but didn’t comment on the Pentagon discussion.
Business Ties
Musk’s deep connections in China, where Tesla operates a major factory, have sparked worries about security risks.
Some officials worry that Musk could be “susceptible” due to his financial interests in the country.
Trump did not clarify whether Musk’s business dealings played a role in the decision to withhold certain intelligence.
Military Preparedness
Trump reassured that while the U.S. doesn’t seek war with China, the military is well-equipped for any potential conflict.
He stressed the importance of keeping military strategies confidential and protected from potential threats.
Musk, who has contracts with the U.S. military through SpaceX, remains an influential figure in national security discussions.
