Maranguape: João Marinho Neto, a 112-year-old Brazilian man, has officially been recognized as the world’s oldest living man.João’s new title comes after the death of John Tinswood, who passed away on November 25 at the age of 112. According to Guinness World Records, João became the world’s oldest living person the following day, on November 26, at 112 years and 52 days old.
João Marinho Neto was born on October 5, 1912, in Maranguape, Brazil. He is now the only surviving man born in 1912.
Born into a farming family, João began working with his father at just four years old. His daily tasks included taking care of livestock and harvesting fruit from trees.
João has six living children, 22 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He attributes his long life to staying close to good people and keeping his loved ones near him.
It is important to note that the title of the world’s oldest person still belongs to Tomiko Itooka, a woman from Japan who was born on May 23, 1908, and is currently 116 years old.
