Los Angeles: The Eaton Fire in Altadena, California, is nearly 50% contained after igniting on January 7.
As of Wednesday, the fire is contained at 45% and has burned 14,117 acres, per Cal Fire.
The “upper reaches” of the fire may face strong winds, worsening a potentially dangerous fire threat, authorities warned.
The National Weather Service cautioned that the dangerous situation could arise but could not confirm it.

Loss of Life and Property Damage Confirmed

At least 16 fatalities have been reported due to the ongoing fire, authorities confirmed Wednesday.
More than 4,600 structures, including homes, have been destroyed by the wildfire since it started.
Rescue teams are working tirelessly to contain the fire and assist affected residents in the region.
The fire’s impact has prompted evacuations and widespread concern across the local communities.

The Palisades Fire started on January 7 in Los Angeles, burning 23,713 acres with 19% containment.
The Eaton Fire, also started on January 7 in Los Angeles, has scorched 14,117 acres with 45% containment.
The Hurst Fire, which began on January 7 in Los Angeles, is almost contained at 97%, covering 799 acres.
The Auto Fire started on January 13 in Ventura, burning 61 acres, with containment currently at 47%.
