London: Oxford University has named Lord William Hague as its new Chancellor, marking a significant moment in the university’s 800-year history.

Hague, a former leader of the Conservative Party, will officially begin his tenure at the start of the new year, serving for a term of 10 years. He is the 160th individual to hold the prestigious position of Chancellor.

The appointment comes as Lord Hague takes over from the outgoing Chancellor and prepares to guide the university through its next phase of development.

It was also revealed that Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and founder of the PTI, had applied for the role of Chancellor. However, his name was excluded from the final list of candidates, which was announced by the university.
