BLYTHEVILLE, AR: Police executed a search warrant at a residence on S Franklin Street. Authorities were alerted earlier this month about a 92-year-old woman living in terrible conditions. Investigators found that her 61-year-old son, Paul Taylor, was her caretaker and lived with her.
Rescue Operation
Blytheville Animal Control and several rescue groups assisted in recovering 38 cats from the home, including one deceased. The Blytheville Fire Department, Code Enforcement, and multiple animal shelters, such as Cattyshack Cat Rescue and Good Shepherd Humane Society, helped in the rescue.
Charges Filed
Paul Taylor was arrested and charged with felony endangerment of an incompetent person and animal cruelty. He also violated Blytheville City Ordinance #1651. Taylor’s first court appearance is set for March 25, 2025.
Horrific Conditions
Officials described the house as unsanitary and unsafe. The elderly woman was found in distress, living among excessive filth and neglected animals.
Community Response
Local organizations, including CARES Clarksdale and Bissell Pet Foundation, are helping care for the rescued animals. Authorities stress the importance of reporting elder abuse and animal neglect.
